Hannah Baum (1878 - 1938)

Birth certificate for Hannah Baum. She was born on 16 February 1878 at 8 Faulkes Street, Cheetham, Manchester, England. Her parents were Asher, a macintosh maker, and Yetta, nee Rosenberg. The Baum surname is incorrectly recorded as Boum. Faulkes Street no longer exists

The children, all born in England, are given as Annie (Hannah) age 3 and Jane age 1. The family shared the house with Minnie's father, Harris Rosenberg, age 51, from Poland, also a grocer, his wife Toby, age 50, born in Poland and their 2 younger Polish born children, Rose, age 15 and Rachael, age 9


1891
The Baum family is at 46 Lord Street, Cheetham Hill, Prestwich, Manchester. Hannah's parents are Asher, a provision dealer age 36 and Minnie age 32. The children are Annie (Hannah) who is 13, Jane (Jeanne) is 10, Fanny is 5 and both Abraham and Rachel are 1. They have two servants, Sarah Markus age 19 from Russia and Ellen Brown age 21 from Ireland


1901
Hannah and Jacob are now married and living at 50 Stafford Street, Liverpool. Jacob is age 28 and a dealer in drapery and clothing on his own account working from home. Hannah is age 23 and their son Marcus is age 2. Living with them is Jacob's sister, Sarah Levin, age 21 and a school teacher, also Mary Barry, age 23, born in Ireland and a domestic servant


1911
The family is at 142 Islington Street, Liverpool, England. Jacob is 38 and a dealer in drapery. He has a shop operating from the premises, which has eight rooms. Hannah is 33 and the children are Marcus age 12 and Simon Bernard age 5


1921
The family is still at 142 Islington Street, Liverpool, England. Jacob died in 1917 and Marcus has taken over the running of the drapery business operating from the premises. Hannah is 43 and the children are Marcus age 22, Simon Bernard age 15 and Gertrude Esther age 4



Travel Document
Passport for Hannah Levin issued by the British Consul General in Berlin, Germany on 13 June 1904. I can only assume that she had lost her original one and this was a reissue, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to travel to Germany in the first place. She must have been visiting Baum family relatives

Death
16 June 1938 in Liverpool, England at 60 years of age from cardiac failure following a gall bladder operation. Buried in the Rice lane Cemetery, Liverpool, England, plot no C33.19

Death certificate for Hannah Levin who died on 16 June 1938 at the Royal Infirmary in Liverpool. She was 60 years old and resident at 62 
Hartington Road, Sefton Park, Liverpool, England, the widow of Jacob Levin, a wholesale clothier. She died of cardiac failure following a cholecystectomy for chronic cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder). The death was reported on 17 October 1938 by her son S B Levin of 195 Woolton Road, Liverpool, England

Hannah Levin Probate 10 October 1938. She lived at 62 Hartington Road, Liverpool, England and died at the Liverpool Royal Infirmary. The value of her estate was £767 0s. 9d. and the beneficiary was her son Marcus Levin, listed as a warehouseman
