Freda Leah Abrahamson (1911 - 2009)

Freda Leah Abrahamson is the sister of Dorothy Sophia Abrahamson, the 2nd wife of my maternal grandfather Marcus Levin. Abrahamson family HERE

Freda was a founder of the Manchester Didsbury Group of Jewish Women which did voluntary work in a local hospital and was the Chairman of the group for a number of years. Freda and Victor were stalwarts of the South Manchester Synagogue, (Wilbraham Road) and were life councillors

Death
16 February 2009 in Manchester, England at 97 years of age. Freda is buried in the Jewish section of the Southern Cemetery, Manchester, England

Clare Citron (1910 - 1987)

Daniel Joseph Abrahamson (1909 - 1997)

Daniel and his family were naturalized in August 1913

Occupation: He was apprenticed to a pharmacist and then his parents bought a shop for him in Eccles New Road. However it was unsuccessful as it closed on Shabbat. He then rented a pharmacy shop near the Hope hospital and offered a 24 hour service. The family lived over the the shop. After the 2nd World War he qualified as an optician and eventually had three optician shops - all three being within one mile of each other

Maurice Burman (1892 - 1976)

Maurice Burman, (may also have been known as Morris), is the husband of Anne Abrahamson, who is the sister of Dorothy Sophia Abrahamson, the 2nd wife of my maternal grandfather Marcus Levin. Abrahamson family HERE

Parents: Marks (Max) Burman (1871 - 1923) and Jane Isaacson (Itzikowitz) (1868 - 1946)

Born: 21 March 1892 in Manchester, England

Occupation: In the 1911 census, age 18, he is a tailor's machinist. In the 1939 register he is a wholesale grocer and confectioner

2) Kate Weisberg (1891 - 1953) in Manchester, England in (January - March) 1926. He was 33 and she was 34 years old

Maurice enlisted in the South Lancashire regiment on the 7th February 1916 at age 23 years and and was discharged on 29 October 1918. He was a private and his regimental number was 202386. He served in France and was wounded (shot in the shoulder) on 17 June 1917

Maurice entitled to receive the War badge. This badge was given to service personnel who had been honourably discharged due to wounds or sickness from military service. It mentions here that Maurice served overseas. He was shot in the left shoulder causing permanent damage to his arm
