Julia Joseph (1845 - 1916)

1851
The family is at 63 Mulberry Street Liverpool. Julia is age 5. Her father, Joseph is age 49 and was born in Plymouth, England. He is a jeweller. Her mother, Phoebe is age 45 and was also born in Plymouth. Her siblings are Ellen, age 18 and born in Bristol, England; Sarah age16 also born in Bristol; Arabella age 14 born in Frome in Somerset, England; Henry age 12 also born in Frome; Esther age 10 born in New York, USA; Rachel age 8 also born in New York; and Alexander age 2 and born in Liverpool, England. Their maid is Betsy Rogers age 17 and born in Ireland.


1871
The family is now living at 18 Daulby Street Liverpool. The text is difficult to read but Julia is now age 27. Her father, Joseph is age 69 and listed as a retired jeweller. Esther is age 29, Rachel is age 25 and Rose is 19. There is a boarder and a servant. 


1881
Julia is now living at 28 Broughton Lane, Manchester, England with her sister Esther's family. Esther has married David Wansker and the family have 6 children. 


1891
Julia and the Wankster family are now living at 6 Upper Camp Street, Manchester, England. She is a manageress of a trimming warehouse


1901
Julia married Moses Rosenberg on 21 December 1892 and they are living at 84 Elizabeth Street, Cheetham, Manchester, England and Moses is the owner of the house. He is a cap manufacturer age 49, born in Russia but now a naturalized British subject. Julia's age is listed as 49. Moses's children by his first wife Leah are Ephraim age 19 and a clerk in the family business, Annie age 14 and Lena age 12, all born in Manchester. They have a general servant living with them, Susan Hellegher age 23 from County Cavan, Ireland


1911
The family is now at 29 Chesterfield Road, Blackpool, England. Moses is still a cap manufacturer age 60. Julia is age 64 and born in Liverpool. Lena is 21, born in Manchester. 



Death
30 June 1916 in Leeds Yorkshire at 70 years of age. Buried in the Urmston Jewish Cemetery, Urmston, Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. 

Tombstone inscription: In loving memory of Julia Rosenberg who died June 30th 1916 aged 74 years. Deeply mourned by her relatives. M.H.D.S.R.I.P. 

The age given on her tombstone, 74, does not fit with her birth, various census, or death records. She died on the 3rd of Iyar 5676

Hebrew translation: Here is buried the most esteemed and upright of women, may she be blessed in her home, Mrs. Riklea, daughter of Mr. Yosef, died Tuesday, 27 Iyar 5676 (1916). May her soul be bound up in the bond of (eternal) life. The third line is a quote from Judges 5:24, describing Yael, who eliminated Sisera and can also be translated as "among women in the tent she will be blessed"
