Born: 6 January 1908 in Liverpool, England. The family migrated to South Africa sometime between 1908 and 1911

Married: Rose Frankel on 31 December 1933 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nathan and Rose were both almost 26 years old. They probably met on a student tour to the United States, which they both participated in (see travel section below)

Nathan was living at 15 Waverley Road, Bloemfontein and Rose at 12 Young Avenue, Houghton Estate, Johannesburg - her family home. The two witnesses, Fanny Seehoff (Nee Frankel) and Beatrice Frankel, were Rose's sisters.

Their first child was born in 1935 when Nathan and Rose were both 27 years old. Their second child was born in 1938 when Nathan and Rose were both 30 years old
