Dear Aunt Peggy and Uncle Bertie [Levin].
We were terribly sorry to learn from my parents of the
passing of Auntie Gladys [Lyons]. It must have been particularly distressing
for you, Auntie Peggy, after nursing her so devotedly over the last few years,
not to have been by her at the final moment, but we are sure you must have no
regrets. I am sure no one could have given more devoted love than you did, and
we do hope that all your love and care for her over the past years will be of
some consolation to you now in your grief.
Though living so far away from the family circle my memories
of Aunty Gladys are frozen into the period of my teens, and not in her later
years when her health failed her so. I remember her as a very very charming
lady who had all the time in the world to talk to and be interested in a
painfully shy teenager. She was my ultimate idea of the perfect lady who was
always courteous and considerate, impeccably groomed and with a terrific
presence.
I will always remember her like that.
Lionel joins with me in wishing you ‘Long Life’.
Our thoughts are with you
