DEATHS ROSENBERG, Joseph David. Died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 12, 1996. Joseph Rosenberg, beloved husband of Annellen, and the late Fay Rosenberg. Loving father and father-in-law of Brahm and Robin, Risa and David, Neil and Arlene, and Susan and Michael. Dear son of Annie and the late Harry Rosenberg. Dear brother of the late Harry Rosenberg. Hannah (Annie) Fine (1899 - 1997)

JOSEPH DAVID FINE
His father (Philip) and mother (Devera) came from Romania. Brother Wolfie was his father's son (he was widowed when he married Devera). They came to Manchester and all the children were born there. Ray born ?, Louis born ?, Joseph born April 1898, Annie born 1899, Ruse born 1901, Solly born
?. 

He went to school in Manchester and left school young to work on the markets buying and selling scarves, lace etc. They lived in a small terraced house. They felt that there were better opportunities in Canada. I think Louis went first - he was more  aggressive and started business there first. When he was 16 he came to Montreal. He started a business with 2 friends making raincoats Louis David (a cousin) and Mr Ordiver.

Her mother is Dora Fine, age 44. The children are Wolf age 21 and also a market traveller, Rachel age 19 and a finisher in ladies' waterproofs, Louis age 16 is a clerk to a financiar, and all born in Romania. Joseph age 12, Hannah age 11, Rosa age 10, and Solomon age 8 are all born in Manchester and are all at school. The dwelling has 6 rooms

Phillip's occupation is listed as a tailor and their intended destination is Montreal

Information
Harry had a dress factory and Annie was a designer at the beginning. Her brother Solomon became a partner in the business. Annie was a good cook and sewer.

Death
15 February 1997 in Montreal, Canada, at 97 years of age. Buried at Baron de Hirsch  Cemetery, Montreal, Canada, Line 17L grave 1617



Annie Rosenberg a hard working and generous woman. Sept. 18 1899 - Feb, 15 1997. Hebrew translation "Chana, daughter of Fishel, died 8 Adar I 5757. May her soul be bound up in the bond of (eternal) life."

In both the 1901 and 1911 census the family were living at 32 Melbourne Street, Broughton, Manchester. The property no longer exists
